March meeting - Kinesiology and Essential Oils
This week, our March meeting was all about living a healthier and calmer life, using Kinesiology and Essential Oils.
Samantha Sutherland, from Energy Freedom, was a really interesting and engaging speaker and we had some new visitors on the night, who had come just to her her talk. We love new visitors, so it was lovely to meet you!
Sam told us about Kinesiology, but there was no sitting still - she used some of us for some example testing, and then taught us all some simple techniques we can use, to keep ourself calm throughout the day.
Here we are practicing an Emotional Stress Release!
All negativity released, we were ready to listen to Sam tell us about Essential Oils and how she uses them in her daily life. We enjoyed having a smell of lots of different oils, and then Sam very kindly produced the ingredients for us all to make our own bottle of bath salts to take home. I might have put a little too much oil in mine, as it's very strong, but most of us read the instructions and made some really lovely smelling bath salts!
News from the meeting:
If we've got your e-mail adress, you should have received a copy of our new-look newsletter in your inbox (in fact you'll have had two - since the first one comtained a date error - oops!). If you're not on our list, pop over to the 'About' page of our website, or the 'Newsleter' tab on our Facebook page, and you can enter your name and e-mail address to be added to our list.
The next event in our calendar is the 'Big Hello' being run at the village hall by the events committee, to showcase the village hall and all of the things going on in it. We will be having a stall to try and recruit some more new members and show everyone how much fun our WI is and that it's not necesarrily what they expect a WI to be like! If any of you can spare some time on the 24th April, 2-4pm, we'd love some help manning the stall, and telling everyoe how amazing we are!
We are also planning our first fundraiser for 2016 - the Wixams Vixens Quiz Night! It will be held on 6th May, 8-11pm in the Village Hall. Once again, we really need help to run this event, so if you think you can spare some time, please let us know. If not, please help us to get the event sold out - mention it to your friends, share the event on facebook, whatever you can do to help get the word out. Posters and Facebook adverts will be appearing soon.
A couple more dates for your diary:
We'll be running a craft workshop as part of Voluntary Arts Week, which will be free for anyone to attend (men and children welcome too) on Sunday 8 May, 10-2pm This will be held in the Village Hall and we will once again need volunteers to help run the event, and also to bake cakes for our stall!
The resulting crafty makes will be used in our follow-up Craft Bomb, to marl the end of Voluntary Arts Week on Sunday, 15th May 10-12pm.
The date for the Jumble Trail has been set at Sunday 12th June (not the 11th - as I mistakenly put in the first newsletter!). we will start advertising this soon too, so once again, all help to spread the word, and any time given on the day to help with our stall etc, would be very greatfully apreciated.
Our next meeting:
Our next Crafty Foxes meet up is on the first Wednesday in April, the 6th. 7.45-9.45 pm in the village hall. We will be making a start on bunting for the village hall, which we hope to hire out to hirers of the hall, to publicise our group and raise some funds! It would be lovely if each flag was decorated by a different Vixen, and we can decorate them in any way we like - applique, embroidery, cross stitch, fabric paints ..... any other ideas? Come along and we can help you put your ideas and designs to fabic!
Of course, as always, if you've got your own craft on the go, you're more than welcome to bring that along to work on!
Our next Wixams Vixens meeting is the third Wednesday, 20th April, and we have the lovely Soo Choy coming in to show us different ways to wear scarves and long necklaces to suit various face shapes, hairstyles, necklines etc. I'm looking forward to that one, as I tie my scarf the same way every day!
